FULL ITINERARY
Experience two very different sides of southern Vietnam on this immersive 2-day Ho Chi Minh City shore excursion, combining the peaceful waterways and local life of the Mekong Delta with the energy, history, and culture of Ho Chi Minh City.
Please note: This tour is suitable for cruise itineraries that allow an overnight stay or sufficient time ashore across two consecutive days. The itinerary may be adjusted according to your ship’s docking and departure schedule, traffic, and weather conditions.
Day 1 – Mekong Delta Exploration
Meet your English-speaking guide and driver at Phu My Port and begin your journey to My Tho, the gateway to the Mekong Delta. After the drive, visit Vinh Trang Pagoda, one of the region’s most beautiful Buddhist temples, known for its distinctive blend of Vietnamese, Chinese, and Khmer architectural influences.
Continue to the Tien Giang River and board a traditional boat to explore the waterways and islands of the Mekong Delta. Discover the peaceful rhythm of river life with selected visits to local homes, fruit orchards, and traditional workshops. Learn about local products such as coconut candy and honey while sampling fresh tropical fruits and honey tea.
For a closer look at life along the smaller waterways, enjoy a hand-rowed sampan ride through palm-shaded canals. Take in the peaceful scenery and, depending on the local schedule, enjoy a performance of traditional Southern Vietnamese folk music.
Afterward, enjoy a delicious Southern Vietnamese lunch at a local restaurant before beginning the journey to Ho Chi Minh City. Check in at your centrally located hotel and spend the evening at leisure, with time to relax or explore the city independently.
Day 2 – Ho Chi Minh City Tour
Guide and driver pick you up at your hotel lobby and we venture out to explore the capital city of Vietnam. Our first stop will be the War Remnant Museum, where we can see countless artifacts, photographs and pictures documenting about the second Indochina war.
Then, proceed to visit the History Museum of Vietnam where you get to see a wonderful range of exhibits on Vietnamese history and culture. Here, we will also sit down to enjoy the famous Water Puppets Show, a traditional art form of Vietnam. Show starts at 10:30AM on weekends.
After the show, we will head to Saigon’s China Town in District 5 where the Chinese community has become an inseparable part of the Vietnamese life here after hundred years of integration.
Make stop along the tour to sit down and enjoy lunch in a local restaurant.
After lunch, enjoy some free time for shopping and strolling at the Ben Thanh Market, a very popular tourist spot mainly due to its rich history and prime location. It offers a wide selection of goods ranging from faux Nike shoes to beautiful silk Ao Dai.
